Targeting the illicit trade threatening Cambodia's Southern River Terrapin and Cantor's Giant Softshell Turtle, WCS Cambodia works closely with the Fisheries Administration and Ministry of Justice to dismantle poaching networks. Through field research along the Sre Ambel and Mekong rivers, they uncover the mechanics of wildlife trafficking, informing workshops that refine policymakers' enforcement strategies. Educational outreach aims to shift local attitudes, reduce demand, and enhance community guardianship of these critically endangered species. As part of WCS's broader counter-wildlife trafficking team, their efforts fuse grassroots action with international coordination to combat exploitation on all fronts.
