Wildlife Crime Prevention Research Lead (1 Post)

The Wildlife Conservation Society, founded in 1895, has the clear mission to save wildlife and wild places across the globe. WCS's goal is to conserve the world's largest wild places in 16 priority regions, home to more than 50% of the world's biodiversity. We currently manage about 500 conservation projects in more than 60 countries.

WCS has been working in partnership with the Royal Government of Cambodia since 1999, providing technical advice and support for the conservation of key habitats and species across the country.

  • Duty Station: Phnom Penh, Cambodia

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES:

Required:

  • Degree (Bachelor required, Master’s desirable) in criminology, conservation, law, social sciences or other topic relevant to this work.
  • Experience in conducting qualitative research, including interviews and focus group discussions.
  • Highly organized with an ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
  • Proven analytical skills.
  • Able and willing to travel regularly to remote areas.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience writing research reports.
  • Full professional proficiency of English and Khmer language, including writing.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with wildlife crime in Cambodia, including current approaches to counter wildlife trafficking.
  • Experience in conducting qualitative research on sensitive topics.
  • Experience with problem-oriented and situational crime prevention models and techniques.
