Projects & Partners

WCS partners with the Government of Cambodia in two protected areas in the Northern Plains landscape, the Preah Vihear Protected Forest (PVPF) and the Kulen Promtep Wildlife Sanctuary (KPWS), supporting the conservation of these two protected areas. These activities form part of the Conservation Areas Through Landscape Management (CALM) Project, a seven year UNDP/GEF-supported initiative aimed at conserving the globally important biodiversity found in the Northern Plains of Cambodia.

The Forestry Administration (FA), part of the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry (MAFF), is the agency responsible for management of PVPF, while the General Department for Administration of Nature Conservation and Protection (GDANCP), from the Ministry of Environment (MoE), is responsible for management of KPWS. WCS also works closely with several local communities, other provincial and national government agencies, and local non-government organisations (NGOs), to promote the conservation and management of these sites.

Support has been provided by Akron Zoo, the Angkor Centre for Conservation of Biodiversity (ACCB), the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF), Danish International Development Agency (Danida), the Disney Conservation Fund, the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the Jeniam Foundation, New Zealand Aid, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), the US Agency for International Development (USAID), the UK Department for International Development (DFID), WCS Trustees Eleanor Briggs and Elyssa Kellerman, and the World Bank.
