This move creates a second captive population after 206 turtles were moved to the Koh Kong Reptile Conservation Centre in Mondul Seima district of Koh Kong Province in September.

More Than 200 of Cambodia’s Royal Turtles Headed to New Center in Koh Kong
(September 16, 2016)   -   WCS in partnership with the Fisheries Administration (FiA) announced today that it is transferring 206 of Cambodia’s national reptiles—known as  Royal Turtles—to a new purpose-built breeding and conservation center in Mondol Seima district of Koh Kong province. The new facility will be named the Koh Kong Reptile Conservation Centre.

This recognition means that Prek Toal becomes Cambodia’s fourth Ramsar Site.
